The Deputy's Guitar

This guitar was completed at Christmas time of 2008. Damian Openshaw is a local Cache County Deputy. I teach 5th grade and he has been our DARE instructor for the last few years. In his introduction to my class he mentioned his guitar playing hobby. I immediately started to think of a law enforcement themed guitar. I mentioned to him what I had in mind. He was very enthused but knew it might require some time to raise the money. In the meantime an Openshaw family tragedy made me realize that I had to find a way to just get this done. Here was a good guy that deserved something nice done for him. I really couldn't afford to just build it, but I was willing to donate my labor. We ended up having Deputy Openshaw's DARE students from Providence, Millville, Wellsville, Canyon, Nibley and River Heights Elementary secretly each donate a dollar. This provided money for the materials and the project was underway. He picked it up on Christmas Eve.
